2015-16 bought four high quality mediation courses to Windsor, Ontario, in an effort to help shift the family dispute resolution culture in that city. From November 2015 to May 2016, Lene and Jen taught four mediation courses: Fundamentals of Family Mediation, Advanced Family Mediation, Screening for Power Imbalances and Domestic Violence, and Family Law for Family Mediators. Approximately 20 participants took the courses and are now exceptionally poised to start their mediation internships.
All four courses are designed to offer both theoretical depth, and practical skills that equip participants to be compassionate and effective family mediators in the ‘real’ world. Wonderful speakers contributed their time to the 2015-2016 courses, including: Skilled Parenting Mediator, Christine Kim; Psychologist Dr. Dan Ashbourne; Senior Mediator and Lawyer, Alfred Mamo; Justice Barry Tobin; Justice Mary Jo Nolan; Dr. Mohammed Baobaid, of the Centre for the Elimination of Violence Against Women; and Aaron Franks, Mediator and Arbitrator. All generously offered their wisdom and experience to enrich the learning of participants.
We look forward to the 2016-17 Course Series, which will be offered in Guelph, Ontario, starting in November, 2016.
